Hello. I’m a professional photographer, security engineer, and all-around web guy.
Obviously, I can’t just focus on one thing… I love technology, travel, data, music, the Internet, and art.
This site is my personal weblog, where I post posts and share links. However you may have gotten here, thanks for stopping by! Feel free to read and comment on anything you find, and feel free to get in touch…
This is v4 of my personal site, the others being v1, v2, and v3, of course. The current version ditches Movable Type + PHP + MySQL in favor of Jekyll. Not that Movable Type, Wordpress, and other CMS engines aren’t awesome — I’m just not interested in the required care and feeding at this point. Plus, haven’t you heard?!?! Static sites are so hot right now.
I’m a Mac geek, and I rock a 13" MacBook Air most of the time. At home, I also have a 27" iMac Core i7 that serves as my photo editing workstation, and it doubles as a file server for photos and music. Thanks to my Drobo with four 1.5TB drives, I’ve got plenty of space for work and play.

Of course, you can find me at the usual places online:
I shoot for myself (travel, friends, Chicago, Elena) and for other people (portraits, weddings, engagements, concerts). Either way, I ♥ making beautiful images and telling stories through photography.
Photos taken after April 2009 are probably shot with a D700, which is my primary camera. I have previously used a D200 (2006-2009) and a D100 (pre-2006). Most of my images from 2007-on are shot in RAW and processed in Aperture/Lightroom and Photoshop. I prefer a “lightly-processed” look to my images (exposure, white balance, toning, etc), although I absolutely love Totally Rad Actions.
Lately, I have been getting back into film, and also shoot with a Contax 645 medium format camera, a Nikon N80, and a Holga 120N (in white, ‘natch). For film stock, I use Fuji Pro 400H (120 and 135) and Kodak Portra 400 (220), although I have been known to dabble with Ilford XP2 (120) and Fuji Neopan 400 (135) from time to time.
